INGREDIENTS
Grains
- 🍚 1 cup washed rice
- 🍚 1 cup glutinous rice
Seafood
- 🐙 120g boiled octopus
Vegetables
- 200g peeled satoimo
- 1 piece sliced ginger
Liquids
- 💧 Water as needed
Seasonings
- 1 tbsp sake
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 🧂 1/3 tsp salt
- 🧂 1 tsp soy sauce
STEPS
Peel the satoimo, cut into bite-sized pieces, rub with 1 tsp salt, rinse under running water, and drain. Slice the ginger into thin strips.
Wash the glutinous rice and drain.
Cut the boiled octopus into bite-sized pieces.
Boil the satoimo in a pot with enough water to cover. Heat over medium heat until boiling, then cook for 3–4 minutes. Rinse under running water and drain.
In a rice cooker, combine the rice, glutinous rice, seasonings (sake, mirin, salt, soy sauce), and water slightly below the 2-cup mark. Mix well and flatten the surface. Add the satoimo, octopus, and ginger on top.
Cook the rice as usual. Once done, gently mix the rice to combine.
