INGREDIENTS
Fish
- 🐟 140g aji fillets
- 🧂 Pinch of salt and pepper
Batter
- 🥚 1 egg
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 💧 2 tbsp water
Coating
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp aonori (green seaweed powder)
Oil
- Enough salad oil for frying
Sauce
- 3 tbsp tonkatsu sauce
- 1 tbsp ground white sesame
- 1/2 tsp mustard
STEPS
Pat dry the aji fillets and cut them into thirds lengthwise. Season with salt and pepper.
Mix the tonkatsu sauce, ground sesame, and mustard in a bowl to prepare the sauce.
Prepare the batter by mixing egg, flour, and water in a tray. In another tray, mix breadcrumbs and aonori.
Dip the aji fillets into the batter, then coat them with the breadcrumb mixture.
Heat salad oil in a pot to 180°C and fry the coated fillets for 3–4 minutes until golden brown.
Serve the fried fillets on a plate with the prepared sauce on the side.
