INGREDIENTS
Main
- 1 piece thick fried tofu
- đź§€ 1 slice cheese, halved diagonally
- 2 shiso leaves
- Potato starch as needed
- 1 tbsp salad oil
- Chopped green onion as needed
Sauce
- 1 tbsp sake
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- đź§‚ 1 tbsp sugar
STEPS
Cut the thick fried tofu diagonally in half and make a pocket by slicing into the cut surface.
Stuff the pocket of the tofu with shiso leaves and halved cheese slices, then coat the tofu entirely with potato starch.
Heat salad oil in a frying pan, place the tofu pieces in, and cook until browned. Flip them over, cover with a lid, and steam-fry on low heat for 3 minutes.
Once evenly browned, add the sauce ingredients (sake, mirin, soy sauce, sugar) and simmer until the tofu is glazed. Garnish with chopped green onions.
