Peel the radish and slice it slightly thicker than usual strips. Mix with 1 tbsp salt and let it sit for 10 minutes. Squeeze out excess water.

Cut the soft tofu into bite-sized pieces and chop the green onion into small slices.

In a pan, stir-fry the salted radish strips with 1 tbsp perilla or sesame oil for 1-2 minutes. Add water or broth until the radish is slightly submerged and bring to a boil.

Add the tofu pieces and chopped green onion to the boiling soup. Season with minced garlic and fish sauce. Let it boil for 10 minutes.

Add 2-3 tbsp of perilla seed powder to the soup and let it simmer for another 5 minutes.

Taste the soup and adjust the seasoning with additional salt if needed.
