INGREDIENTS
Dry Ingredients
- 8 cups all-purpose flour
- â…“ cup white sugar
- 🧂 1 tablespoon salt
Wet Ingredients
- â…“ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- đź’§ 2 cups water, or as needed
STEPS
Combine flour, sugar, oil, yeast, and salt in a large bowl. Add 1 cup water and start kneading. Continue kneading and adding water until you get an even dough that is very slightly sticky. Knead for 10 minutes.
Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
Prepare sticks or branches about the thickness of a hotdog. Tear off a piece of dough, roll it into a ball, and flatten it into a 4-inch round. Wrap it around the stick so the edges overlap.
Place the dough-covered stick near the campfire. Cook in a hot area (not directly burning) while rotating every so often until bread is dark on the outside and slides off easily, about 10 minutes.
