INGREDIENTS
Main Ingredients
- 🐙 230g octopus
- 🧄 10 cloves garlic
- 1 green chili
Seasonings
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 🧂 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp corn syrup
- 💧 100ml water
- a dash of sesame oil
- a dash of black pepper
- a dash of sesame seeds
STEPS
Slice the semi-thawed octopus into bite-sized pieces. Avoid slicing too thin as the octopus will shrink during cooking.
In a pan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sugar, corn syrup, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil.
Add the sliced octopus, garlic cloves, and green chili to the boiling sauce. Optionally, substitute green chili with dried red chili for a different flavor.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer the octopus gently, stirring occasionally to coat evenly.
Once the sauce thickens and reduces, add sesame oil and black pepper. Stir well and turn off the heat.
