Cut the onion into wedges by slicing it into 8 equal parts.

Poke holes in the skin of the chicken drumsticks using a fork, place them in a resealable bag, add the marinade ingredients, seal the bag, and massage the marinade into the chicken. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Line a baking tray with aluminum foil and arrange the marinated chicken drumsticks and onion wedges on it. Preheat the oven to 230°C and bake for 20–30 minutes, brushing the chicken with the marinade 2–3 times during cooking until the chicken is evenly browned.
